[2:09] <jaszczomb> Hi guys, could you give me a quick idea of what I need to learn to connect TFT screen to my rpi 2 or rpi zero?
[2:09] <jaszczomb> http://imgur.com/a/5n3mp
[2:09] <jaszczomb> thats the screen, was connected to what I've pointed with an arrow
[2:10] <c-pin> why would you uh...
[2:10] <c-pin> not buy a monitor from goodwill or like 2 dollars
[2:11] <c-pin> or if you have a dvi monitor already, i used a mhdmi to hdmi, then a hdmi to vga with audio, used that with the built in speakers and just switch sources
[2:11] <c-pin> but it looks like youre trying to get into some crazy requiring not sure if youd want to do that
[2:11] <c-pin> wiring*
[2:13] <c-pin> https://www.element14.com/community/thread/32614/l/how-to-how-do-you-connect-a-7-inch-tft-color-lcd-car-rear-view-camera-monitor-support-rotating-the-screen-and-2-av-inputs-to-the-raspberry-pi?displayFullThread=true
[2:13] <c-pin> if you have a compatible monitor, you can try that
[2:13] * asagk (~asagk@i59F6C03B.versanet.de) Quit (Ping timeout: 240 seconds)

[2:16] <jaszczomb> I thought I could make something nice out of it
[2:16] <jaszczomb> dissasembled it
[2:17] <jaszczomb> theres a button in the upper left part
[2:17] <jaszczomb> and a speaker on the right :D
[2:17] <jaszczomb> I use rpi as a server on a daily basis, I have no electronic knowledge, sorry for my ignorance

[10:11] <naftilos76> Hi everyone, i have just bought a raspberry pi 2 model B and would like to ask you what i can install so that i can take advantage of the full available performance of the board. I installed raspbian (https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/raspbian/) which did not impress me much because i could not even watch a youtube video with decent frame rate or watch a video with vlc. Is there anything regarding video playback that i can do in order to wake
[10:11] <naftilos76> up this beast? Is there some kind h/w accelaration that i should enable or something?
[10:14] * gentwo (d9a4ff59@gateway/web/freenode/ip.217.164.255.89) has joined #raspbian
[10:15] <Martijn-NL> naftilos76: What do you expect from your Raspberry Pi? What do you want to do with it?
[10:18] <Martijn-NL> naftilos76: If you only prefer to watch video's, Youtube, listen to music etc. I recommandate you to install OSMC.
[10:18] <naftilos76> Martijn-NL, at the moment i am just experimenting but on the long run i was thinking of building with uGFX graphics a multi-instrument via the gpios of the board. I am sure that the cpu will do more than i expect when it comes to my future projects.
[10:19] * mike_t (~mike@pluto.dd.vaz.ru) Quit (Ping timeout: 244 seconds)
[10:19] <naftilos76> For now i am just playing around...
[10:20] <Martijn-NL> naftilos76: If you are looking for a MediaCentre OSMC is the answer.
[10:21] <Martijn-NL> naftilos76: If you want to experiment with some programs & other stuff Raspbian is better. However, it's also possible to install Mediacentre KODI on Raspbian. Then video's play smooth.
[10:22] <Martijn-NL> because the CPU has not enough power to handle the video's. It must use hardware decoding, not software decoding.
[10:23] * Haruno (~lucas@197.226.159.99) has joined #raspbian
[10:23] <naftilos76> Martijn-NL, nop no media center. I will use C/C++ to develop a few projects that include the pi as the processing unit. I have already bought a lcd 7 inch with hdmi. It will most probably be a multi instrument including multimeter functions, programmable power supply, oscilloscope, spectrum analyser and the like.
[10:24] <naftilos76> That off course will need additional hardware which i will develop myself.
[10:26] <Martijn-NL> naftilos76: I don't ever experiment with the GPIO pins on the Pi. The best answer i can give you is crawl the internet or leave a post on the weatherstation forum from the Raspberry Pi foundation: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=112

[16:11] <rakmaq> Hi. I face a problem with a deb package. If I install the deb package foo with dpkg it works fine, but the next time I try to install an application using "apt-get install" it complains that I have to run "apt-get install -f". If I do this it will get the latest version of foo from debian's repositories. I tried pinning the version of foo by using "apt-mark hold foo", but that didn't seem to fix th
[16:11] <rakmaq> e problem. Does anyone have an idea how I might fix this?

[16:18] <Lartza> How can a raspbian package be incompatible with a raspberry pi?
[16:20] <rakmaq> It's not. It's incompatible with an USB device.

[16:24] <Lartza> The package you are holding breaks a dependency?
[16:26] <rakmaq> I don't remember the exact error message, but I think that was the case. However, the deb package doesn't have the dependency, but the package in Raspbian's repositories does. Renaming the name of the deb package seems to solve the problem, but I was wondering if there is a better way to do it.
