[11:20] <bagarebob> Hi all, have a question i was hoping someone could answer re overclocking raspbian on the latest image. I have a Raspberry PI, B Rev1 installed with the latest Raspbian (2013-02-09-wheezy-raspbian.zip), this was downloaded from raspberry pi page and is not maintained by raspbian.org i guess but the problem i have is re overclocking and it not taking an affect, has anyone here experienced these problems?
[11:34] <gnarface> bagarebob: http://elinux.org/RPi_config.txt i can't help you but this might

[13:15] <larsgk> Nik05: ok .. I found it here: http://twolife.be/raspbian/pool/main/qt5/
[13:15] <larsgk> Nik05: need to do some modifications to qtwebkit anyway... so probably have to get cross-compiling working (phew)
[13:17] <Nik05> oh so rasbian has qt5? :S
[13:18] <Nik05> no probably doesnt :P
[13:19] <larsgk> raspbian official doesn't .. but this guy has done good and made qt5 available
[13:19] <Nik05> a guy who made his own repo
[13:19] <Nik05> yeah, i thought the link was a mirror of raspbian
[13:19] <larsgk> it makes little sense to stick with qt4 for raspbian (not moving to qt5) as qt5 has all the goodies needed to make a smooth experience on RPi
[13:20] <larsgk> regardless of whatever debian has ;)
[13:20] <Nik05> compile it yourself :P
[13:21] <twolife> thoses packages works, but there seems to be a problem with mixing qt widgets & opengles , see http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=32845
[13:21] <larsgk> ..true... I am trying to get an environment made as we chat... but I am a bit out of my comfort zone cross compiling and building qt and webkit packages for rpi...
[13:21] <larsgk> trying to follow the guide for the hybrid build env on twolife.be's site
[13:22] <larsgk> nobody uses qtwidgets anymore (at least not on gles systems)
[13:22] <larsgk> qml + qt/c++
[13:23] <larsgk> qml is GLES accelerated (it seems) on RPi and runs VERY smooth on my pi ... so far
[13:23] <larsgk> qml in qt5 that is
[13:24] <twolife> yeah I use qml too, but some users keeps telling me that my packages doesn't works ^^
[13:27] <larsgk> twolife: I must thank you for saving a lot of time for me
[13:27] <larsgk> credit ++
[13:27] <larsgk> :)
[13:28] <larsgk> http://opensourcedays.org/2013/content/education-kit-built-webapps-raspberry-pi-and-arduino
[13:29] <larsgk> going to make a talk on using RPi/Qt5/Node.js to make a cheap education platform for developing countries...
[13:29] <larsgk> .. I have some issues with the qtwebkit in qt5 though - so I probably need to make my own (hence: trying to follow your steps for the hybrid cross compile)
[13:30] <larsgk> if you have the scripts to share to build the actual qt5 packages (after checking out qt, etc.) that would save me some more time .. :)
[13:32] <twolife> larsgk: everything is in the repository in the *.debian.tar.gz
[13:34] <larsgk> twolife: thanks a lot! - I'll check

[14:50] <larsgk> twolife: any reason why the qt5 packages are not included in the standard packages list? (apt-get qtwebkit -> not found) ?
[14:51] <twolife> larsgk: the package is 'libqtwebkit5' , so an simple "apt-get install libqtwebkit5" should works
[14:51] <larsgk> twolife: thanks :)
[14:52] <bagarebob> wtf, reinstalled and still cant overclock :S
[14:52] <larsgk> E: Unable to locate package libqtwebkit5
[14:52] <twolife> and "libqtwebkit5-dev" if you want the headers files
[14:52] <bagarebob> anyone had this problem with raspbian?
[14:53] <twolife> larsgk: did you add "deb http://twolife.be/raspbian/ wheezy main" in your sources.list ??
[14:53] <ParkerR> twolife, only libqtwebkit4 is in the repos
[14:53] <larsgk> twolife: I was thinking I could install qtwebkit .. then modify the sources and build qtwebkit alone
[14:53] <larsgk> the files are in the file structure .. but not in the packages list it seems
[14:54] <larsgk> I'll check the sources
[14:54] <twolife> larsgk: no, it doesn't works like that... if you want to rebuild from scratch, you will need to add "deb-src http://twolife.be/raspbian/ wheezy main" in your sources.list
[14:55] <larsgk> oh ok
[14:55] <twolife> larsgk: apt-get update && apt-get source qtwebkit && apt-get build-dep qtwebkit
[14:55] <larsgk> (I am new to building debian packages)
[14:55] <twolife> but please, please, please.. don't do that on the Pi itself
[14:56] <twolife> it will simply not works
[14:56] <twolife> you need at least 3G+ of RAM to build qtwebkit
[14:56] <larsgk> I am cross compiling (hope it works ;))

[14:57] <larsgk> ok
[14:58] <twolife> qtwebkit is really not the simpleast package to build ^^
[14:58] <twolife> s/simpleast/easiest/
[14:58] <larsgk> so - I was still thinking of installing all deps... then somehow fetching sources for the qtwebkit package and intercepting it before building.. applying patches and build deb (but have no clue howto.. learning by doing wrong)

[15:05] <twolife> it a simple list of patches to apply before compile the code
[15:06] <twolife> you put the .diff in debian/patches/ & edit debian/patches/series
[15:07] <twolife> the current version in my repository is 5.0.1-0rpi1 , in the pastbin, you will find a link to a new version 5.0.1-0rpi2 , it's currently building on my machine; it fix a link faillure at the end of the build

[20:41] <ech0s7> hi all
[20:41] <ech0s7> i would encrypt the whole root (/) partition of rpi with a password, set automatically at boot
[20:41] <ech0s7> have you any idea ?
[20:42] <vagrantc> "set automatically at boot" ?
[20:43] <ech0s7> vagrantc: for example i could run a program that return the password to decrypt the filesystem at boot
[20:44] <vagrantc> then what's the point of encrypting if it automatically decrypts it?
[20:45] <ech0s7> vagrantc: for use sd only with one raspberry, for example, the password may be the MAC address
[20:45] <ech0s7> so if you take the sd card and put it in another raspberry does not work!
[20:46] <ech0s7> and if you mount the sd into another pc, you can't read nothing...
[20:46] <ech0s7> because it is encrypted
[20:46] <vagrantc> ok.
[20:47] <ech0s7> vagrantc: any idea ?
[20:48] <vagrantc> ech0s7: do you have it working where you have to type in a password?

[20:49] <ech0s7> no vagrantc
[20:50] <ech0s7> vagrantc: if the mac address does not unlock the filesystem, then it must not start
[20:50] <vagrantc> well, i'd recommend using luks for encryption, and playing around with the cryptsetup hooks in initramfs-tools: /usr/share/initramfs-tools
[20:54] <plugwash> note that every pi I have seen has the same ethernet OUI
[20:55] <plugwash> so only 16 million attempts would be needed to brute force the encryption
[20:57] <ech0s7> plugwash: but the password will be created according to an algorithm not invertible based on mac address

[22:18] <markedathome> wow, this is hard to track down. full of useful information like version="" , kern.log = btrfs <version>
[22:19] <markedathome> https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Getting_started has debian as kernel 3.2, btrfs-tools 0.19 2011-11-05
[22:21] <markedathome> so is kernel the linux kernel, or the version of the btrfs ... ? <aahhh> I think I'll hop over to #btrfs

[22:29] <pinion> Or did you include it and recompile the kernel?

[22:38] <markedathome> from #btrfs, paraphrased the arm tools are woefully outdated 20120328-7!! the version of btrfs is 3.6 from dec 2012. the tools need to be compiled from git as the arm updates are not included in the packaged version, and are liable to "break comprehensively"
[22:39] <pinion> Good luck
[22:39] <markedathome> pinion: I'm just trying out different filesystems, on usb drive. Have already tried zfs, which was a giggle

[22:41] <markedathome> got a massive 2Mb/s write on the zfs via samba...
[22:41] <markedathome> er, MB/s
[22:43] <markedathome> you know how it is, once you've tried one filesystem, you have to try them all
[22:43] <ParkerR> Naah once I try one I stick with it (if it works :P)
[22:44] <pinion> Not bad
[22:44] <pinion> ResiserFS is the only way to go
[22:44] <markedathome> that was with zfsonlinux, I tried zfs-fuse, but thatt only got 200KB/s write f

[22:46] <markedathome> what I really want is TorrentFS, where the file system is distributed and filled using torrents. It would be easy even with the different piece sizes in torrents, but for the fact that files are concatenated together.

[22:48] <markedathome> on which filesystem?
[22:48] <pinion> zfs
[22:49] <markedathome> just mounted the drive, what parameters?
[22:49] <pinion> sudo hdparm -t /dev/yourdisk

[22:50] <pinion> that's on stock raspbian installed this weekend to a usb stick, verB board

[23:11] <NoReflex> hello! I'm running Debian on Raspberry Pi and I'm trying to get sopcast to work. I got the sopclient application for Android (there is no other "generic" ARM version)
[23:12] <NoReflex> First the application (sopclient) would refuse to run (even though it was in /usr/local/bin it would say No such file or directory); with some help I managed to find out that android uses /system/bin/linker (readelf -l sopclient | grep interpreter) so I did ln -s /lib/ld-linux-armhf.so.3 /system/bin/linker
[23:13] * bertrik (~quassel@rockbox/developer/bertrik) Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[23:14] <ParkerR> NoReflex, You can't just run an Android build on the Pi
[23:14] <ParkerR> It has to be built for the Pi
[23:14] <NoReflex> now I get sopclient: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory which from what I can tell means it loads but can't find some library; I copied libstdc++.so from my Android phone to Raspberry Pi and put it next to the executable, set export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=. but still the same error

[23:15] <pinion> http://code.google.com/p/sopcast-player/source/checkout
[23:15] <pinion> check out the source and compile it maybe?
[23:15] * sweil (~stefan@p5086FFC7.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[23:15] <NoReflex> ParkerR, From what I could find it should theoretically run since it is the same architecture; the only issue I think of is that my phone (Nexus S) is ARMv7 and RPi is ARMv6
[23:16] <ParkerR> Android builds link against libraries specific to Android
[23:16] <ParkerR> NoReflex, Yeah that's a no-go
[23:16] <markedathome> you are missing the following: input devices, screen management, network management, not to mention the dalvik vm
[23:18] <NoReflex> pinion, from what I can tell that project uses the binaries from the Sopcast website
[23:18] * marvinstuart (~marvinstu@208.102.169.178) Quit (Ping timeout: 264 seconds)
[23:19] <NoReflex> markedathome, I don't think it has anything to do with the Dalvik VM; the part I need (the actual sopcast client is written in C/C++)
[23:19] <ParkerR> You still can't just run it like that
[23:19] <NoReflex> problem is it is closed source and the communication protocol is proprietary
[23:19] <markedathome> then it is still linked against the android ndk (native development kit)
[23:21] <NoReflex> markedathome, I assumed there are some other Android libraries (.so) it needs but I was planning to identify them one by one but since it won't get pass libstdc++.so I'm stuck
[23:22] <NoReflex> the ARMv6/v7 bit is the last thing I can think of to try

[23:24] <ParkerR> NoReflex, You are somehow going to have to find source code for the sopclient or email the main devs and requesting RPi support
[23:25] <markedathome> you are trying to do the equivalent of running a solaris for intel x64 application on a 32bit intel 486 running windows. It isn't ever going to happen except with a virtualised environment. Like in the android. SDK.
[23:26] * dest4ever (~kvirc@unaffiliated/dest4ever) Quit (Ping timeout: 248 seconds)
[23:27] <NoReflex> markedathome, I don't think an older Android phone is that different from RPi
[23:28] <ParkerR> It is
[23:28] <ParkerR> Completely different hardware in most cases
[23:28] <markedathome> and that is just the arm processor
[23:29] <markedathome> linus is more than a bit miffed at the splintering of the arm codebase through the various different "architectures"
[23:30] <ParkerR> markedathome, I read that as "linux is a bit miffed..." at first XD
