[0:10] <ParkerR> Well. That's one way to add a terabyte of storage to a chromebook http://i.minus.com/iO3Bz6FkQWf7V.JPG
[0:10] <RJ45> I found a program called 'Furious ISO Mount', seems to be what I'm looking for, I'll try it.
[0:10] <ParkerR> RJ45, What for?
[0:11] <RJ45> the .img
[0:11] <ParkerR> RJ45, I linked to a page and a pastebin of me showing a very simple method

[12:54] <Bushmills> is there a LED on the camera, and is it connected to USB?
[12:54] <Michael_JJ> Bushmills: yes the camera has a led and it's connected directly to the Pi's usb
[12:54] <Bushmills> watch the LED whether it flashes or remains steady when you try to grab from it
[12:55] <Bushmills> if it shows signs of flashing, you may want to try a powered USB hub
[12:56] <Bushmills> or, maybe try a powered USB hub anyway, just for reference

[13:41] <patagonicus> Hi there. Trying to get sound working, the Pi seems to neither play any sound over HDMI (can't use the volume control on my beamer which means it's not getting any sound) or the analog output. snd_bcm8235 is loaded and it's not muted.

[13:47] <Mogwai> patagonicus: You can try "amixer cset numid=3 2" to set output to HDMI and "amixer cset numid=3 1" to set analog .. see if that does anything
[13:48] <Mogwai> patagonicus: and "speaker-test -c2 -t wav" to test the output
[13:49] <patagonicus> Oh interestingly, forcing it to analog worked. I tried HDMI and auto before, but somehow it didn't cross my mind to set it to analog …
[13:49] <patagonicus> Still strange, it worked via HDMI with OpenELEC and Raspbmc before.
[13:51] <Mogwai> patagonicus: You can try putting "hdmi_drive=2" in /boot/config.txt to try to fix the HDMI issue
[13:51] * OliverJW (~Oliver@94-192-128-116.zone6.bethere.co.uk) has joined #raspbian
[13:52] <patagonicus> I won't really need it, the Pi won't be connected to HDMI after I finished configuring it. Next thing: MP3 playback. Rhythmbox crashes when pressing play, audacious just stops instantly again.
[13:53] <Mogwai> patagonicus: Does it have to be a GUI player?
[13:53] <patagonicus> It will be used by people who are not experienced with PCs, so yes. I'd just use MPD + ncmpcpp instead …
[13:56] <Mogwai> patagonicus: I see .. well get rid of pulseaudio if you haven't done so already .. that seems to fix most sound issues :)
[13:56] <Mogwai> Music on console should be a nice middleground: http://moc.daper.net/node/374
[13:57] <patagonicus> Oh, I didn't know Debian also uses PulseAudio. Tried it once and nothing worked :)
[13:58] <Mogwai> patagonicus: They've removed it from the latest foundation image .. previous ones had pulse installed by default

[20:16] <TheSnide_> hi
[20:17] * TheSnide_ is now known as TheSnide
[20:17] <TheSnide> anyone has an sdcard img with f2fs as rootfs ?
[20:18] <sney> no, but now maybe I want to
[20:18] * tinti_ (~tinti@pdpc/supporter/student/tinti) has joined #raspbian
[20:18] <TheSnide> sney: :)
[20:18] * lordievader (~lordievad@524A7E1B.cm-4-3b.dynamic.ziggo.nl) has joined #raspbian
[20:18] <TheSnide> sney: as, i dont have the skillz/time to make one on my own
[20:19] <TheSnide> sney: issue is that f2fs seems to be only kernel 3.6+
[20:20] <TheSnide> sney: so, it seems to need either a backport, or a new kernel recompile
[20:20] <sney> wikipedia says it was introduced with 3.8, but sometimes newer kernel features are backported to earlier kernel releases
[20:20] <TheSnide> sney: oh, might be .8+. i just saw it wasnt std on raspbian
[20:21] <sney> raspbian is just a debian wheezy recompile. it has a newer kernel most of the time, but f2fs-tools is only in sid and up
[20:21] * MobGod (~mobgod@unaffiliated/mobgod) Quit (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
[20:21] <TheSnide> sney: ok
[20:22] <TheSnide> sney: no armhf for sid ?
[20:22] <sney> debian armhf is only for armv7 and newer chips. the pi is armv6-hf so the only debian arch that works is armel, and it's sloooooooooow
[20:22] <sney> and that's the whole reason raspbian exists
[20:24] <TheSnide> sney: oh. that's why i had the impression that armhf was not new to debian. yet rpi needed a recompile somehow
[20:24] <sney> yeah.
[20:24] <TheSnide> is armel that slow ?
[20:25] <sney> the pi is pokey enough as it is
[20:25] <TheSnide> i mean, for ssl and other fp hungry, i can understand, but most shall be int based, no ?
[20:25] <TheSnide> sney: it seems that the main slow factor is the sd io to me.
[20:25] <sney> yeah, that's probably accurate. hence your new project?
[20:26] <TheSnide> sney: my new project ?
[20:26] <TheSnide> sney: oh. f2fs ?
[20:26] <TheSnide> sney: was just wondering.
[20:26] <TheSnide> sney: i am too curious for my own good
[20:26] <sney> heh
[20:27] <sney> learn how to use debootstrap, go to town
[20:27] <TheSnide> sney: other than that, was thinking about umsdos, but got deprecated.
[20:27] * zacthespack (~zacthespa@217.72.122.75) has joined #raspbian
[20:28] <sney> yeah, fat is dodo bird technology
[20:28] <TheSnide> sney: as iirc, the booting part needs a fat32
[20:28] <sney> it does. hardware limitations, I think
[20:28] <TheSnide> sney: yet, the ftl is heavy biased towards fat32
[20:28] <sney> ftl?
[20:29] <TheSnide> the software part in the sd card
[20:29] <TheSnide> that emulate the block layer of 512b
[20:29] <sney> well, that makes sense just due to what people usually use fat32 for
[20:30] <sney> or rather, what they use sd cards for. though it more or less covers the same ground.
[20:31] <sney> (multi platform compatibility)
[20:32] <sney> I might try to hack a raspbian install using f2fs together when I get my replacement sd cards
[20:33] <TheSnide> yup
[20:33] <sney> it might not nuke the card as quickly this time.
[20:33] <TheSnide> i made some perf tests, and the blocks where the fat resides are much much faster than the normal blocks
[20:34] <TheSnide> seems that the algo isnt the same
[20:35] * vjacob (~vjacob@80-161-69-75-dynamic.dk.customer.tdc.net) Quit (Quit: Leaving)
[20:35] <sney> what, between the vfat and ext drivers? yeah, they're fundamentally different
[20:36] <RJ45> every time I start XBMC, I keep getting a message come up saying something about needing an "accelerated graphics driver", I hit [Enter] key and it all works fine anyway :-/
[20:36] <RJ45> how do I stop the message coming up again?

[20:39] <TheSnide> ShadowJK: yup.
