[5:42] <mascondante> f00bar80: I did a little research for you. It seems tshark is available already (http://www.ronnutter.com/raspberry-pi-intro-to-tshark/) so I'm assuming you want a newer version. https://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-dev/201309/msg00139.html may point you in the right direction. It's wireshark but I believe the GUI version includes the command line version. If it's just the arch you need I *believe* all you need to do is ./configure --build=
[5:42] <mascondante> armhf --host=armhf if for some reason it's not detecting that naturally.

[11:10] <heller_> how could i solve a problem about wlan not waking up after AP reboots?

[11:10] <heller_> im trying to make monit to run dhclient if ping fails
[11:11] <Subroutine> hello. i use my raspi(raspian) as a home server. now i want to play music over it, but i am having problem with audio device. this is output from alsa test: http://pastebin.com/KDWLN1c3 .does someone have a minute to help me please?
[11:13] * hid3 (~arnoldas@78.157.71.116) has joined #raspbian
[11:13] <hid3> Hello everyone. How can I become an official repository mirror for Raspbian?
[11:14] <plugwash> whereabouts are you and how much bandwidth is available?
[11:15] <heller_> why does this provide me with an error? http://pastebin.com/VMj6zFTz
[11:15] <hid3> Lithuania, bandwidth - more than 1 Gbps to Lithuania and roughly 500 Mbps to abroad
[11:15] <hid3> we currently host Debian, Ubuntu and Apache projects mirrors too
[11:16] <Subroutine> hid3: check this http://www.raspbian.org/RaspbianMirrors

[11:17] <hid3> It seems there are no mirrors in Lithuania and nearby - I'll drop them an email with the offer...
[11:17] <Subroutine> Capslock_Holmes: :)
[11:17] * plugwash googles where Lithuania is
[11:18] <hid3> OMG, you don't know it??
[11:18] <Subroutine> plugwash: seriously? com'on
[11:19] <plugwash> i've heard of it and have a vauge idea it was somewhere in eastern europe
[11:19] <hid3> It's in the central Europe
[11:19] <hid3> and don't confuse it with Russia. And yes, Soviet Union is also gone more than 25 years ago
[11:21] <heller_> ah, this solved my problem
[11:21] <heller_> http://weworkweplay.com/play/rebooting-the-raspberry-pi-when-it-loses-wireless-connection-wifi/
[11:28] <ShorTie> seems kind alot of extra uneeded, have you tried just using like wicd to keep the wifi up ??
[11:30] * ThaFridge (~ThaFridge@5419194E.cm-5-2a.dynamic.ziggo.nl) has joined #raspbian
[11:30] <heller_> never even heard of wicd
[11:30] * ThaFridge_ (~ThaFridge@5419194E.cm-5-2a.dynamic.ziggo.nl) has joined #raspbian
[11:30] <heller_> and that works for me
[11:31] <ShorTie> oops, didn't read far enough down to see 'Just restart network instead of reboot' lol.
[11:32] <ShorTie> ya, ping scripts do work ok, lots of them out there
[11:32] <heller_> yeah im using only to drive wlan0 down and up
[11:32] <ShorTie> but they do eat up stuff, having to run every 5 minutes or so
[11:32] <heller_> last time i tried /etc/init.d/networking restar, i had to reboot rpi
[11:33] <heller_> and im lucky to found that. i know how to make ping etc but the $? are not familiar to me
[11:33] <ShorTie> sortta think wicd or network-manager is a more effiecent way to do the same thing

[13:23] <plugwash> heh, it sounds more like your ISP sucks
[13:23] <TheSnide> plugwash: ... that might also be an issue :-D
[13:24] <TheSnide> funnily, going to NY suffers no drops. Internet is full of misteries
[13:27] <plugwash> does it vary with WHICH provider in the UK you are going to?
[13:28] <plugwash> often mtr is very useful for working out what's going on in these cases
[13:30] <plugwash> if it's to all providers in the UK then I guess your provider has bought a connection to linx and said connection is overloaded
[13:30] <plugwash> or faulty
[13:38] <plugwash> (though some routers have poor response to traceroute/ping packets so the results from mtr can be a bit misleading)

[14:00] <heller_> will it make filesystem go mad?

[14:03] <evil_dan2wik> well, if it stops responding and the act light isn't lighting up at all, then it is safe to pull the plug
[14:03] <heller_> mainly because of ap reset
[14:04] <evil_dan2wik> there is a script to run 'sudo reboot' when one of the GPIO pins are pulled high
[14:04] <evil_dan2wik> That would be a safer way

[20:39] <heller_> if i reboot wlanAP or reload wireless on the rpi it stays offline
[20:39] <methuzla> chrislp_ sorry, can't help. no experience with that.
[20:40] <heller_> methuzla: yeah i just changed hostname for the raspbian. and it stated to get ip from 192.168.1.1, which is the AP. and then i lost ssh

[20:44] <heller_> and the machine does have a scripts to take wlan0 down and up if network is down
[20:44] <heller_> seems like it that i need to change it to reboot, not reload wireless
[20:44] <methuzla> to change hostname, edit /etc/hostname and update /etc/hosts
[20:45] <heller_> i did that, then reloaded networking
[20:46] <methuzla> you'll likely loose your ssh connection during the network reloading
[20:46] <heller_> its been 15 minutes
[20:47] <methuzla> and you can't ssh back into it?
[20:47] <heller_> nope
[20:47] <heller_> nor ping it
[20:47] <methuzla> are using ip address or hostname?
[20:47] <heller_> ip
[20:48] <methuzla> it sounds like networking is not working then
[20:49] <methuzla> i typically use a monitor (i.e. don't run headless) when getting wifi setup on a pi
[20:49] <methuzla> do you have one connected?
[20:52] <heller_> headless for now
[20:52] <heller_> good point though
[20:52] <methuzla> bootstrap issue.
[20:52] <heller_> and whats that?
[20:53] <methuzla> kind of like chicken and egg
[20:53] <heller_> i will be moving on next week, after that ill be getting more time and maybe attach it to a tv
[20:53] <heller_> i would like suggestions on an lcd for the rpi
[20:53] <heller_> that would fit to a case
[20:53] <heller_> something like 3.2" maybe
[20:53] <methuzla> how do you fix a broken network connection over the network?
[20:53] <heller_> this is ok? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251636425516
[20:53] <heller_> power it down
[20:54] <heller_> i would like to run a site on the display or just "tail -F /var/log/file

[20:57] <methuzla> haven't used any small displays myself
[20:57] <methuzla> just hdmi out to a spare monitor
[20:57] <methuzla> then headless once things are stable
[20:58] <heller_> anything over 10" is too much
[20:58] <heller_> yeah headless is my preferred type too

[20:59] <methuzla> might want to consider some of these: http://www.adafruit.com/categories/160
[21:01] <heller_> the one on ebay is almost the first one
[21:01] <gordonDrogon> personally I'd go for the adafruit one - you'll get more support.
[21:02] <methuzla> second that
[21:02] <heller_> true, and not that much price difference
[21:02] <heller_> maybe, if i get something more from there too
