[1:23] <diederik> kronnn: I don't know whether exfat is supported at all, but the UUID can't be correct (it's not universially unique)
[1:24] <kronnn> hmm, so if I was to just use the location /dev/sda1 instead of the UUID?
[1:25] <diederik> that would have a better chance of success

[1:28] <kronnn> no, trying to have it boot on start from /etc/fstab
[1:29] <diederik> makes sense. But before you do that, I suggest you get it to mount manually first and then work your way towards putting it in /etc/fstab

[1:56] <diederik> I don't know much about raspi-config (don't use it), but your question/problem seems to vague to me for anyone to be able to help

[4:03] <diederik> \o/
[4:11] <plugwash> what are you celebrating?
[4:12] <diederik> that I've just successfully build an installer with .cpio and the kernel for both RPi1 and RPi2 with the proper config.txt
[4:13] <diederik> So it looks like I mainly need to make some adjustments to /etc/init.d/rcS script and then I can begin testing
[4:15] <diederik> the kernel-upgrade-script will be rather crude and only work properly during install though.
[4:15] <diederik> But I'll make it external so that it can be updated separately
[4:17] <diederik> were you notified of the raspbian-tools repo creation?
[4:26] * Valley_Cat (~Valley_ca@c122-107-163-231.eburwd5.vic.optusnet.com.au) Quit (Remote host closed the connection)
[4:31] <plugwash> yeah, github seems to be sending me quite a few mails about it :/
[4:37] <diederik> that's probably because you're the owner of debian-pi and it looks like you're automatically watching it then (you can unwatch if you like)
[4:44] * plugwash wonders if we should package the kernel update hook script
[4:45] <plugwash> so that it is possible to update it on existing installs
[4:45] <diederik> that is the idea that I/we had in mind
[4:46] <diederik> moving the kernel-update-script out of the installer and into the raspbian-tools repo and (in time) provide a deb package from that repo
[4:49] <diederik> and when that package exists, it becomes a dependency for the installer. But it can also be used for what you just described

[11:56] <littlebit> hi people, I'm trying to install raspbian on to my 32GB sdcard with the help of these instructions: http://raspberrypiguide.de/
[11:56] <littlebit> The link is in german but what it basically says is that you should format the card (mkfs.vrat /dev/sdc1) and then, dd bs=1M if=/path/to/img/file of=/dev/sdc1 && sync
[11:56] <littlebit> everything went fine, but when I insert it into my rasberrypi and give it power, I only have red and green leds on and that is it. can someone tell me what am I doing wrong?

[11:59] <ShorTie> if your using windows maybe try sdformatter
[11:59] <ShorTie> think the barrier is >32gig for a special format
[12:01] <littlebit> ShorTie: I don't user windows in general and since I have a 32GB sdcard and after formating it, it shows me 31. something GB is in that barrier
[12:02] <ShorTie> well you might be running into the 1000/1024 thing most likely
[12:03] <ShorTie> oops, oh ya, of=/dev/sdc1 is not correct either
[12:03] <ShorTie> you do not want to write to a partition
[12:04] <ShorTie> you want to write to a device, so it's of=/dev/sdc

[14:53] <ac_desktop> diederik: ok, I get it : the raspbian repo is a copy of the debian wheezy repo, with an additional section "rpi" in it, that contains the programs specific to the raspberry pi, am I right ?
[14:53] <diederik> pretty much
[14:54] <ac_desktop> diederik: and what does the raspberrypi.org repo bring then ?
[14:54] <diederik> other programs the raspberrypi foundation found useful
[14:56] <ShorTie> like the kernel i believe
[14:56] <diederik> that's indeed an important one
[14:57] <ac_desktop> diederik: why don't I see the kernel in my installed packages ?
[14:59] <diederik> maybe because it's named raspberrypi-bootloader ?
[14:59] <ac_desktop> diederik: ok, so the kernel and the bootloader are just a single package
[15:00] <ShorTie> you see a couple kernels in /boot ??
[15:00] <diederik> from the rpf, yes
[15:02] <ac_desktop> and that raspberrypi-bootloader package is nonfree I believe
[15:03] * YoY (~YoY@ltl56-2-88-169-169-201.fbx.proxad.net) Quit (Quit: Leaving...)
[15:03] <diederik> it does contain a binary blob, so yes
[15:03] <diederik> but if you want to use your Pi, there's no way around that

[15:04] <ac_desktop> diederik: I suppose I can do without the video driver, since I'm using it headless
[15:05] <ac_desktop> (supposing it's the video driver)
[15:05] <diederik> no you can't since the GPU is responsible for the very first part of the boot process
[15:06] <ac_desktop> diederik: ok, that's interesting
[15:06] * ShorTie thinkz, still think you'd be better building up from like net-install in stead of trying to strip down
[15:07] <diederik> all the .bin/.dat/.elf files in /boot/ are part of the firmware, without that your Pi won't boot
[15:07] <ac_desktop> ShorTie: I'm not stripping it down anymore, I'm just discussing, trying to understand a few things about rpi while flashrom is compiling :)
[15:08] <diederik> aptitude search '?origin(Raspberry Pi Foundation)'
[15:08] <diederik> ^^ that list all packages provided by the rpf

[23:36] <diederik> akex2: that advice on stackexchange is the worst I have seen thus far
[23:36] <diederik> libc6 is such a critical component which you can't just upgrade
[23:38] <diederik> you could try to reinstall the 'old' version of libc6 to get your system into a working order again or if you have a backup of your system, restore it using that.
[23:39] <akex2> Yes thanks diederik
[23:39] <akex2> But too late :(

[23:39] <diederik> Then you have 2 options of the top of my head: backport halproxy to the supplied version of libc6 or upgrade your whole system to jessie
[23:39] <akex2> I re install all raspbian

[23:41] <diederik> if you have the source code you could try to compile it yourself and see whether that works.
[23:41] <akex2> I think a old version of haproxy
[23:41] <akex2> Hooo it too for me , i think
[23:41] <diederik> wheezy is the current debian stable, jessie is currently testing but it is being prepared to be the next stable version of debian

[23:44] <diederik> there is a version of haproxy in wheezy-backports (which is the same version as jessie has)
[23:44] <diederik> https://packages.debian.org/wheezy-backports/haproxy
[23:44] <diederik> so you can get the source code from there and compile it yourself and that should work
[23:44] <akex2> And why i try install it

[23:47] <diederik> I don't know anything about haproxy or OctoPrint etc.
[23:48] <diederik> To get a working version of haproxy for your raspbian system, you have to compile it yourself using the sources obtained from the page I linked earlier
