[0:22] <TBJoe> diederik: why for good reason? Shouldn't an official source have a key thats in the keyring by default?
[0:22] <diederik> Because normally one shouldn't install packages from debian itself
[0:22] <TBJoe> It has been a long time since I've used debian but when I did, I don't remember having this problem with backports
[0:23] <TBJoe> you mean to take the load off from their server?
[0:23] <diederik> on a normal debian install it is installed by default
[0:23] <diederik> no, there are PLENTY of debian mirrors, that's not an issue
[0:24] <diederik> on a Pi1 you'd brake your raspbian system when you install a debian armhf package
[0:24] <diederik> (since Pi1 does not support ARMv7)
[0:25] <diederik> and you usually wouldn't want to install armel packages since they don't take advantage of the Pi's hardware
[0:25] <TBJoe> oh, so you mean I should take raspbian sources and that's the reason the debian sources are not in my keyring?
[0:25] * Diaoul (~Diaoul@static-5-51-3-145.ftth.abo.bbox.fr) has joined #raspbian
[0:26] <diederik> you should install packages from raspbian, since they're just recompiles from the debian sources, but taking advantage of the Pi's hardware
[0:27] <diederik> so only if you really know what you're doing, you could install packages from debian. But in that case you should also be aware to install the appropriate keyring for that
[0:29] <TBJoe> hmm okay, thanks for telling me that. I'll delete the wheezy backports and try to find a raspbian backports source
[0:29] <diederik> are you running a Pi1 or a Pi2?
[0:29] <TBJoe> Pi2
[0:30] <diederik> the Pi2 does support ARMv7, so in that case you could use the debian armhf packages
[0:31] <diederik> there is no raspbian (wheezy) backports btw

[6:51] <f6f6f6f6> nmap can't find my device and i have dhcp enabled. do i need to enable the networking in order that the ethernet gets power? i can try to find another ethernet cable in the unlikely case that this cable is no good... i'm sorta running out of ideas

[15:57] <shiftplusone> also... don't use the pistore if you don't cave to.
[15:57] <shiftplusone> I have no idea how it installs libreoffice, but it's clearly doing it wrong.
[15:58] <shiftplusone> simply running sudo apt-get install libreoffice would've done the right thing in less steps.
[15:58] <shiftplusone> I can see that oosplash is a part of the libreoffice-core package, but I don't know what the right thing to do now is because I have no idea what pistore did
[15:58] <Ricky3> shiftplusone: should've known that before installing
[15:59] <Ricky3> google gave me some hint to reinstall the core
[15:59] <Ricky3> probably deleting is and installing it via apt-get might do the job

[18:26] <raulillo> hi there! i'm trying to use kodi in a raspberry pi, i have raspbian 7 as OS (so wheezy). i've tried with both versions 14.1 and 14.2, but in none have I been able to set up the webserver... note that i have no keyboard or mouse, so i need to set it up via ssh... i edited the file /home/pi/.kodi/userdata/guisettings.xml and changed those 3 values: webserver default -> true, zeroconf default -> true, esallinterfaces default = true,
[18:27] <raulillo> then restarted kodi, but nothing there... netstat -an doesn't show any open port but 22 (ssh), but nothing about the default webserver port, 8080... any hint where to look? where are kodi logs? can't find them...
