[0:00] <Phrohdoh> It is upsetting that I can’t navigate the fs tree on the card. :/
[0:00] * qdk (~qdk@87.72.0.40) has joined #raspbian
[0:01] <gregoa> Phrohdoh: why not? my next idea would have been to fsck the card's partitions somewhere and look at /var/log/* afterwards
[0:01] <Phrohdoh> When I open Finder (OS X 10.10.3 user) the files are not the true fs. I can try fsck.
[0:02] <gregoa> ah, OS X. not my department :)
[0:02] <gregoa> but what is "not the true fs"?
[0:03] <Phrohdoh> I mean I can’t read the filesystem that the rpi would have access to. I just get the boot files.
[0:03] * otter768 (~otter768@cpe-67-11-53-3.satx.res.rr.com) Quit (Ping timeout: 256 seconds)
[0:03] <gregoa> well, there are 2 partitions on the card, the first (fat) with the bootloader and the kernel, and the second (ext4) with the root fs
[0:04] <Phrohdoh> Yes, and i can only see the fat/ms-dos one, unfortunately.
[0:04] <Phrohdoh> I’ve used osxfuse in the past but now it seems to have gone to crap..
[0:04] <gregoa> OS X can't mount an ext4 partition? that's sad ...
[0:05] <Phrohdoh> I’m going to try to build osxfuse myself and see if that will help.
[0:06] <gregoa> ok. - another route to investigate might be if your router has some fancy firewall settings that block access to the raspi
[0:06] <Phrohdoh> I highly doubt it. My house is full of tech-challenged people and they would have a terrible time if so.
[0:07] <gregoa> heh :)

[0:13] <Phrohdoh> Great, it requires e2progs which OS X doesn’t have access to. This’ll be fun.

[2:54] <buu> DeafBlue: What is your desktop running?
[2:55] * laza (~laza@b2b-130-180-1-210.unitymedia.biz) has joined #raspbian
[2:55] <DeafBlue> My desktop is running windows 10 tech preview
[2:55] <buu> oh
[2:55] <DeafBlue> It has to use windows, because I use autocad and inventor on it
[2:55] <buu> does it have remote desktop enabled?
[2:56] <DeafBlue> I'm sure I can enable it, but how would i connect to it via the pi?
[2:56] <buu> rdesktop or grdesktop
[2:56] <DeafBlue> which one do you recommend?
[2:57] <buu> I think the g one will be easier to use
[2:57] <buu> DeafBlue: You could also try remmina
[2:57] <buu> It has good reviews

[18:56] <ezio> hopefully in tar
[18:56] <farn5w0rth> shiftplusone: which filesystem format should i format as?
[18:57] <shiftplusone> farn5w0rth, are you planning to share it over the network or do you need to actually access it directly from non-Linux pcs?
[18:59] <farn5w0rth> shiftplusone: sharing over network so pcs/macs can read/write to it
[19:00] <farn5w0rth> shiftplusone: my setup is raspbian with sabnzb, sickbeard, another rpi with openelec kodi that auto updates from the raspbian build
[19:03] <ezio> where can i download 3.18.7+ headers to disk?

[19:13] <farn5w0rth> shiftplusone: is that the same as exfat? how do i format to ext4 on a mac lol
[19:14] <shiftplusone> no, not related to exfat at all. You don't format to ext4 on a mac though. You can format from the pi itself or use whatever filesystem your os lets you format as, as long as it's linux friendly.
