[8:18] <Odie_> just describe the issue and see
[8:18] <jay_s_uk> i have a camera module that works on a raspberry pi 2 but not on a raspberry pi b original
[8:18] <Odie_> you enabled it on both?
[8:18] <jay_s_uk> the module worked fine on the 2 with a virgin raspbian image, but using the same image, it does not function on the original pi
[8:18] <jay_s_uk> i did
[8:19] <jay_s_uk> it just says that it can't find it
[8:19] <Odie_> you connected it to the right connector? I once connected it to the wrong one :)
[8:19] <Odie_> iirc there is two where it fits
[8:19] <jay_s_uk> its connected to the one between the hdmi and ethernet port and the blue side of the cable is facing the ethernet port
[8:20] <Odie_> I cant remember which one is the right one
[8:21] <jay_s_uk> well asssuming that nothing changed when they made the pi 2, its connected to the same port
[8:21] <Odie_> other than that + the raspiconfig enable, I don't know

[8:23] <jay_s_uk> ok
[8:27] <DoctorD90> hello guys. If i make a live debian arm custom image, it would not boot in rpi, rigth? ...how boot a distro from rpi? :)
[8:28] <lordievader> DoctorD90: The Rpi v2 B model can boot Debian arm images.
[8:28] <lordievader> For the older models you need to make an image for the armv6 core (IIRC).
[8:30] <DoctorD90> 1. rpi2 a(it seems to me that it has been released, but i may wrong) can too? 2.in which way? alwyas and only from sdcard, or from usb too? 3.may i ask you a little more about old version?
[8:31] <lordievader> Pi's can only boot from the sd card.
[8:31] <lordievader> Just ask ;)
[8:33] <DoctorD90> so both a and b model v2 may boot an iso-arm dd-ed on a sd card? without special boot settings?
[8:34] <lordievader> Is there a v2 model a?
[8:34] <lordievader> But yes, dd the image over, put the sd card ino the pi and boot up.

[8:38] <DoctorD90> as i said, i dont remember well about a v2 :P it is just a memory.... about model v1? if i chroot an arm env, how may i put it on an image able to be booted from models v1?
[8:39] <lordievader> DoctorD90: Look at the original raspbian images ;)

[8:41] <DoctorD90> ok, but i mean: im learning about create iso for normal pc systems, creating boot sector, etc...on rpi? just a simple partition with boot flags?
[8:42] <Odie_> take official image and look at it and experiment
[8:42] <lordievader> DoctorD90: That is why I said to look at the raspbian image, it holds all the answers ;)
[8:42] <Odie_> I think there is fs with config.txt which will contain the boot information
[8:43] <lordievader> Yes, there are two partitions in the image, one fat32 with the kernel and some config files and a ext4 filesystem with the rest of the system.
[8:43] <DoctorD90> no, i asked just to be sure that is so simple :P and about all "extra" settings like new tree option to use gpio and other rpi's feature? how i have to do in chroot env?
[8:44] <DoctorD90> Odie_: sure, but im config there are "now" also very specific/great settings for rpi :)

[15:10] <KB3VGW> and then when done I ran a install with our script
[15:10] <KB3VGW> and iti nstalls network-manager
[15:11] <KB3VGW> but now the issue is only happening on the raspbian img is that its failing to run the dhclient from network manager
[15:11] <KB3VGW> I can run it manauly from prompt and it gets a ip
[15:11] <KB3VGW> we use network manager for better ontrol of networking
[15:12] <KB3VGW> is there plans to get a official raspbin jessi img out
[15:13] <KB3VGW> for the pi-2
[15:13] <KB3VGW> as the current img is still wheezy based

[20:37] <kb3vgw> you mounting this on a board ?

[21:27] <ansik> What... voltages is the PI using logic?
[21:27] <ansik> "You should set the voltage to whatever voltage your microcontroller uses for logic"
[21:27] <ansik> or... how do I figure that out if you want me to learn myself?
[21:28] <kb3vgw> all our stuff is using 3.3v
[21:28] <ansik> awsome

[21:37] <kb3vgw> this 1 issue is pissing me off
[21:38] <ansik> way out of my leauge :>
[21:39] <ansik> Say I need one of the GPIO like, several meters away. Do I need shielded cables or something ya think?
[21:40] <ansik> Like, 3-4 meters away
[21:40] <ansik> from the actually PI
[21:40] * th0r (~Thor@24.106.210.67) has joined #raspbian
[21:41] <kb3vgw> you should always use shielded cables wher you can
[21:42] <ansik> I've got close to zero knowledge of like... low voltage systems (electian here, so I pretty much only know when to use what cable, in homes and shit you know), what type of cables should I be looking to use here?
[21:43] <kb3vgw> well get on and read
[21:43] <kb3vgw> you have to learn
[21:43] <ansik> Sure do
[21:44] <kb3vgw> I have spend 6 months working on our project and waiting on our first dev proto board
[21:44] <kb3vgw> to test
[21:44] <ansik> Thats a long time to wait
[21:45] * hanfm (~Thunderbi@x5d81c5ff.dyn.telefonica.de) Quit (Quit: hanfm)
[21:45] <ansik> or, wait no, you haven't waited 6 months, you're waiting now? :p
[21:48] <kb3vgw> yes the boards layout was sent on last monday

[21:49] <kb3vgw> they say we will have boards in the next week
[21:49] <kb3vgw> we are getting 10 fully built boards
[21:49] <kb3vgw> each proto run has to be 10 boards at 3 bucks a board
[21:50] <kb3vgw> and then parts comes to about 15 bucks a board
[21:50] <kb3vgw> but we hand built our first proto and know it works do this is just the sm version
