[13:41] <_mak> hi there, since I have no keyboard available I'm trying to get my brand new pi 2 running headlessly, but I can't find a way to make it skip the raspian-config screen when I boot it
[13:42] <_mak> is there a way to skip that screen and make it connect to a wifi network so I can access it via ssh?
[13:50] <BRZT> Yes
[13:50] <BRZT> Come back tomorrow when I haven't been drinking
[13:51] <_mak> A druken brain thinks better
[13:51] <BRZT> raspbian
[13:52] <_mak> all tutorials I've found assume that my pi is already connected to the wifi network
[13:52] <_mak> but I can't even tell it to connect to my wifi
[13:52] <_mak> I've created an open wifi to see if it would automatically connect, but it seems that it is not working
[13:52] <BRZT> No
[13:52] <BRZT> Not the way to do it
[13:53] <BRZT> But you will need a live CD
[13:53] <BRZT> or are you running *nix on your pc?
[13:53] <BRZT> I'm guessing not
[13:53] <_mak> well, I have it in a usb stick
[13:54] <BRZT> Boot to that
[13:54] <_mak> I've updated the raspian /etc/network/interfaces to use dhcp (it was manual before)
[13:54] <BRZT> then access the SD card for the pi
[13:54] <BRZT> sudo nano etc/network/interfaces
[13:54] <BRZT> or pico w/e
[13:54] <BRZT> Configure it
[13:54] <BRZT> enable SSH
[13:55] <BRZT> and you are done!
[13:55] <_mak> so I need to input my network right into the interfaces
[13:55] <_mak> I see
[13:55] <_mak> I thought that changing it to dhcp would make it auto connect to my open network
[13:55] <BRZT> Maybe
[13:56] <BRZT> I don't use DHCP
[13:56] <BRZT> and
[13:56] <BRZT> I'm off to watch TV with SWMBO
[13:56] <_mak> cool thanks dude

[14:14] <fred1807> lordievader: When I have auto eth0 on the interfaces, I can start my pi without ethernet cable inserted... then anytime I plug the cable, dhcp client gets a lease.. If I remove auto eth0 line, I can later plug the cable and write "ifup eth0" to get the lease OK. But I need to have automatic dhcp discover... I need to only plug the cable, and it got to work, without having to cmd ifup eth0... You may answer :leave auto eth0... But I cannot have that

[18:57] <lordievader> Fair enough.
[18:57] <jakllsch> a GPS reciever has a lot of processing to do

[21:15] <steelcowboy> Hi there! Just a quick question... when I try to load the spi_bcm2708 module on my Pi it says "cannot insert module: no such device"
[21:17] <steelcowboy> Does anyone know why this happens? I don't have anything connected yet but I was getting the same issue on Arch, even with the SPI clip wired up properly and connected to the BIOS chip (I'm trying to use SPI to flash coreboot on my machine)

[21:48] <donpi> Hi everyone, I've an USB WiFi adapter using an RT5372 chipset (according the seller). Now, because the ID Vendor and Product are not in the Driver Firmware list (https://wiki.debian.org/rt2800usb), how can I add the ID Vendor and Product of my USB to the list so that when I plug the USB it uses the driver rt2800? Thanks in advance
